Bee Aware Month 2021
Each year in September alongside Apiculture New Zealand we celebrate Bee Aware Month, a month dedicated to bees and learning about how we can support them best.
The easiest way you can help is by planting bee friendly plants in your garden. There are many varieties, big and small, that are rich in pollen and nectar. This is particularly important in early spring to give bees a boost before other plants can provide them with the nutrition they need to get themselves ready for the honey flow.
This year Apiculture NZ is encouraging everyone to plant one tree for Bee Aware Month. Here is a link to resources on the Apiculture NZ website: https://apinz.org.nz/bee-aware-month-2021/
We have also brought back our bee friendly wildflower seeds. These are a blend of seeds, hardy and easy to grow that you can scatter throughout your garden. Here is a link to our Bee Friendly Seeds: https://www.branchcreekhoney.co.nz/shop/p/bee-friendly-seeds-wildflowers
Another really helpful resource we use is the Trees for Bees website. They are a NZ based non profit organisation focused on keeping our pollinators happy and healthy. Here is a link to the Trees for Bees website: https://treesforbeesnz.org
Every Bee Friendly tree counts, do what you can and let us know if you have any questions or need any tips. Happy Bee Aware Month!
